I put the oven on 150 degress for about 15 minutes to warm up before i put my meal in. i heard a sudden shatter and found that the oven door has exploded and all the glass had shattered all over the kitchen floor.

It is a Moffat Electric Oven with hob above.

Hi, I can't explain why it happened but the same thing has just happened to me with a Belling over door - this was a removable inner glass sheet, it exploded in my hands as I was washing it at the sink - glass and blood everywhere! Luckily just minor cuts but this could have been a really serious injury. I just lifted out of the water to turn it and wash the other side and bang! I think there's a real hazzard here. Belling are replacing this under warantee, I wonder how many others they've had to replace?!

Anyone else had similar experiences?

This can happen to glass oven doors.heat stress,scratches,sudden temperature change can all cause this to happen.even happens on new appliances from time to time!
