vauxhall vectra 1.8 ls?

hi .I have a vectra 1.8 year is 2000 when i start it the rev counter moves up and down and the engine management light stays on all the time . put it on the machine and was told that the air intake was to high .Has anyone else came across this problem? .If so any advice? Thanks.

have you installed an induction kit(aftermarket airfilter)?? this also causes irratic idling if not then i would agree with the faulty sensor

Is it the intake air temperature sensor or the intake air flow meter the mechanic claims is faulty?
What fault code(s) did the machine show?
If the rev counter is moving up and down but the engine revs are steady I'd be fitting a new crankshaft sensor, but I'd need to see the fault codes, and preferably live data readings first.

hi its a faulty sensor easy and cheap to fix the sensor located between air box and throttle body on the pipe with a wire try replacing that and check that the valve inside air box isnt jammed open thats a small plastic lever under the air filter
