how can I fix a keyboard that may have gotten wet?

After cleaning my keypad on my Sharp Cash Register, it stopped working. All I can figure is some of the cleaning fluid must have gotten under the cover. Specifically, some keys seem to work as usual while others do not function at all. The escape key and the cash tendered key seem to be disconnected. I'll press down on them and get no response.

My dept. keys are still active.

Since the cash tendered key is inactive, the only way to open the drawer is to push the lever on the bottom of the machine.

Oh dear. that's bad. It has probably contaminated the membrane layers inside the keyboard. It will need to have the keyboard stripped open and the membrane will need to be washed and dried, then reassembled. the sooner the better as it it will get worse if left for too long.
