Does anyone know how to gain access to the Hotpoint tumble dryer CDT00P. I have a spare element with the two cutouts on it, but I need to remove the back, or top, or sides of the machine to plug it in.

Remove two screws at back that hold the lid in place, then push lid from front - it should slide about an inch then can be lifted off - you may need to give it a thump to move it. Screws at back and on top then allow you to remove side panels exposing the drum motor, electrics etc.

I hate to say this but you're really going to have to smack it hard on the corners. I've had the odd one like this and I really thought I was going to have to break it off but it gave in and moved.

The only thing I can say is, make sure you've got the 3 (I seem to remember it having 3) screws out of the rear of the lid, then belt it on the front corners.
