how can i get the dashboard out on T4 VW transporter?

How do I check connections on the fuel gauge at sender and receiver ends on my VW T4 2.4 1993 as the gauge has stopped working. Can’t get at the back of the dashboard to check the connections, the temperature gauge is permanently on 0 as well.
