Gilera DNA 125 2003 Speedo Problem?

Gilera DNA 125 2003, Speedo stopped registering correct speed at 14000 still displays fuel/temp/miles what can it be looked at all cables under clock seems ok. Been advised to disconnect battery and re-connect or will it be the sender from the front wheel?

Cut the cable 2" above sender & the same at the plug & run in a length of 3 core. Cured mine.
