How can I fix the headlight bulb on my Ford Focus?

Ford Focus Zetec Hatchback. Headlight bulb gone. How can I get access to it?

I presume you are having problems with the passenger side headlight bulb as the driver side is fiddly but possible. Unfortunately to change the bulb on the passenger side which has hindered access due to the battery shelf you have to take the whole headlight assembly out. To do this you need to firstly remove the grill - use a socket set with a extended to gain access to the two side bolts. You have to undo the screw attaching the grill to the car latch too. Undo all the bolts on teh top of the headlight and squeeze under the car to remove the finale bolt that holds the headlight in place. Then changing the bulb is easy, the fit back. I would like to have a word with the ford engineer who thought this was a good joke. It will take you about a hour to do if you are a average joe like myself.
