How can I replace the rope on my 13 ft umbrella?

How do you thread a double rope pulley and pin umbrella?

This is as clear as mud. Could you please elaborate for the pole/pulley/pin and where all these actually are located?

I have the same problem and love my umbrella as it matches my lounge and other patio furniture.

Thanks a million.

I neglkected to say - it may be easier to remove the fabric cover before the stringing work and to put it back on when you're satisfied that it works ok.

If you find it difficult fastening the free ends of the cord firmly to the post, a jubilee clip around the pole trapping a simple knot may be an easy solution.

The cord at the pin end might be clamped with a few small, plastic cable ties.

Continuing good luck...

You should not let yourself get all hung-up over this...

Fix the pull cord firmly to one side of the pole just above and to the rear of a pulley wheel near the top of the pole. Take the cord down to the hub and feed it through the hub pulley and back up the pole to the top pulley.

Bring the cord down and pass it through the pin and go back up the other side of the pole in the reverse direction - top pulley, down to hub pulley and back up again. The cord will straddle a rib.

When the free-end of the cord is firmly fastened to the top of the post on the other, second side you may then centralise the pin and clamp the cord together so the pin remains central on the pull cord.

You should find, if you have corded it correctly, that to raise the hub by one foot you have to pull down two feet of cord - a mechanical advantage that means you need less force for raising the unbrella's weight.

Good luck...
