I've got a message" Your system is infected" on my desktop?

The message come on with my desktop and I cannot remove it.I have scanned my pc with zonealarm and it quarantined and /or removed some viruses.I have disabled all of my start up programs but it still is there. The pop up little red button with the x telling me to click here to fix it on the start up icon bar has gone but the red message on a black rectangle is still there.I have a Dell Dimension DXC 061 PC running using windows XP

Sounds like a Malware infection. Most AVs like Zone Alarm amongst others arnt great a removing Malware.

I would suggest something like Malware Bytes Anti Malware. Its not an Antivirus suite like ZA is but its an on demand scanner that generally is a lot better for this type of situation.

Seen this program pick up hundreds of items missed by standard AVs
