I have the same problem. In my case the Handle lock release appears to have been damaged when the vac. fell over. Hoover say the replacement will cost£13.77p.!! When I got over the shock & said "no thanks at that price" (altho' I may have to order one eventually) I just can't see how to actually replace it!!Have you had any better luck, I wonder???
