Vauxhall vectra (design).Windscreen wiper fault?

Recently my vauxhall vectra design 05, passenger windscreen wiper has stopped working
Suspect this is a linkage problem.
How can i access the linkage to check same + where is the cheapest place to get a new linkage

My 04 vectra just done the same got some rip ties and is working fine now

Take the linkage off and connect the other way round, the worn part has worn with the help of gravity , mine has been fine for 5000 miles ,nothing else was effective

My 05 Vectra has just done the same (Passenger side wiper not working) I am assuming, like everyone else here, that it is the linkage. Just great, it was the fuel pump a while ago!! Also a well known fault for these cars!!!!!!

hi
same proble with my 54 vectra. I put the arm back in the joint and I just used a plastic wrap to hold the arms tight just in front of the joint where is very little movement between them(the ribbed part of the arms) and it works just fine without paying vauxhall £150.

I also have a problem with an 06 plate and had the part fixed under warranty 2 years ago. Now they have started playing up again and they have quoted £300 to fix the problem saying it needs a new motor and a linkage and that the parts alone are £200.

I believe there is a design fault with these and to be honest seeing the way Vauxhall are ripping me off for the repair of what I believe to be there design fault puts me off ever getting a Vauxhall again?

Just wondering how many people out there are having problems?

When this happened to my Golf it turned out to be the motor mounting bolts working lose allowing the motor to wobble against the linkage causing the system to jam up. As the bolts loosened over time the symptoms became worse until it all seized up.

To get to the motor I needed to remove lots of equipment above and to the rear of the engine. Fortunately there was a fibre-board cooling grille above the motor so I just chopped it out and tightened up.

Amazon will sell you a Haynes maintenance manual for under £20. Spare parts can be had from your local Motor Factor - see yellow pages. My guess is though that you will probably need neither manual nor parts.

Good luck...
