Check that the large cable terminals on the solenoid are clean and tight....when the solenoid clicks there should be a battery voltage appearing at the starter motor, so check that if you can with a bulb or voltmeter. Even better, remove the starter motor from the engine and see if it spins on the bench when you connect a battery across the terminal and casing.
