diesel problem with 51 plate will not start,when it does start cuts out?

when i was driving the car the other day i stopped in a car park and it would not start after a while it started but then cut out and would not start feul problem maybe feul pump or something similar can anybody help.The car is a vauxhall vetra 2000 diesel ls tdi.
