Mountfield SP534ES petrol lawn mower - self propelled facility failure?

My Mountfield SP534ES petrol lawn mower was "self propelling" fine when I switched it off around 10 days ago. Upon starting it today the self propelling facility wasn't working when engaging the bottom lever on the handle bar. When engaging it, the rear drive wheels appear to be engaged but nothing happens.

Is it relatively easy to fix this as it seems to be a problem between the engine and the drive axle?

Chances are it's no more complicated than the drive belt jumping off the pulley.

Access the belt by removing the cover under the deck, and check. You can manoever the belt back on (with difficulty) without any further dismantlng. The usual cause is grass getting wound around the pulley in the groove.
