How to get cutting head to spin?

I have a Ryobi 2 cycle gas trimmer, model 775R. The engine starts, but the cutting head does not spin. Any suggestions.

if it makes a ractheting sound the shaft or where the shaft connects is stripped out ,if no ratcheting sound clutch could not be engaging or shaft could be broken
