my washer won't spin.What is wrong?

my washer works fine until it gets to spin then it quits leaving my washer full of water, not spining or draining. what is wrong???

machine is NOT designed to spin while it still contain EXCESS water (must pump it off first)
lower the drain hose down into a bowl water should flow out by gravity be prepared to empty the bowl .
advance the program to a spin cycle, leave the drain hose in a empty bowl if it now SPINS suspect filter problem or the drain PUMP

Since its washing the motor and the drive belt are ok.
when it comes to spin the procedure's the same but the motor has to work harder so maybe the (carbon)
brushes which take the power to the motor are worn
and need replacing.Try turning the prog.switch to some spin positions(power off),then switch on and
rock machine to see if contact is made by brushes and machine should spin.If so new brushes are needed.
Good Luck P.S.it could be the prog switch---hope not.
