how can i fix my ford focus 1.4 2003 lack of power fault?

Can you help my ford focus 1.4 2003 has a hesitation when accelerating. been told change coil pack ,ht leads,potentiometer etc .As you guess cost a fortune to buy all this.Has anyone had any fault the same and repaired.I have only replaced spark plugs so far.
