I bought a decorative Christmas plate for my wife and travelling home, the plate lip got banged and the underside of the lip was crushed a little. It does not show on the front of the plate but I wanted to correct the underside since it is flaking quite a bit.

Can I just apply some wall plaster to it... smooth it out to the contour of the rest of the plate?
