Just dis this on my daughters w.machine, followed the tips to disconnect the four wires, turned the machine back on and it worked straight away, brilliant. Just to make it clearer hers is a built in unit.PULL OUT THE PLUG OR SWITCH OFF AT WALL. I pulled off the plinth that covers the bottom of the unit and the two adjacent units and then found the drain and filters, cleaned this out( this also could cause errors in the machine if it is too blocked up. She didnt even know this was there, bad design and installation on a new house Oxley Park MKeynes). Pulled out washing machine, was able to do this without having to turn off or disconnect water, four screws on top, two on back, lift off cover, the drying unit is about 4"wide is shiny metal runs down the middle, from the middle of this to the back there are 4 wires on spade connectors in white plastic covers on the left side, first 2 are blue, 3rd and 4th are grey and black, just pull them off the side cover them in tape or tie onto the wiring loom so they dont touch the terminals again , put the cover back on-done, whole thing took 10/15minutes.

i have the electrolux ewx 14450 w - with the same problem followed your page and disconected the wires 12 months ago and problem was cured - drier was useless any way still using a old hoover drier about 48 years old.

DAVID, June 2017
Many thanks to those of you below who posted the C7 error solution. I pulled off the four connectors at the side of the heating unit and the washer is up and running again. Saved me a few bob and the Missus is happy as Larry.

Trowy, August 2016
Removing the 4 electric connectors at the back of the heating element did the trick
Thank you!

Machine came with the new-built Flat. I don't use the drier. Had the same problem as Rachel Oct09 & others but after 6 yrs. An engineer came, asked a few questions, pressed a few buttons & said one or both circuit boards "may be" faulty, do I want to spend £200-300? Charged me for the call out. Then saw Arthur M's Oct12 solution. Took ages to take the machine out of the fitted kitchen to expose the top but no time at all to disconnect the four pull-out wires (caution: those are NOT the ones right at the back, but the ones about 3/4 back, in the middle, right at the top when the top cover is removed). Works!! Thanks Arthur M. [Guess Oliver Apr14 is an option if you use the drier]

Thank you so much for this post. I've managed to fix my washer dryer for £41! using the link Oliver provided

Thank you so much for the tip to remove the 4 wires from the dryer heater element, our washing machine is now working. A very quick job and hundreds of pounds saved. Not worried that the dryer doesn't work any more. Didn't use it anyway as took too long. We seem to be quite lucky our machine came with our new house and we have been here over 7 years.

Happy Washer., October 2014
I know this is an old question but very helpful today when my Electrolux EWX14440W packed up.

The washing machine would start ok but after about 15secs just stop ! checked error code and C7 was being displayed.

Can confirm Olivers diagnoses, we hardly use the dryer function so, after isolating the power at the fuseboard I just removed the top lid, disconnected all 4 of the dryer heating element wires, made sure they were safe ( wrapper insulation tape around each ) reassembled and switched the power back on.

All in all took about 10 mins and the machine is now working perfectly, albeit without drying function.

Sorted !

I had exactly the same symptoms as most people on here and can definitively report that the fault is caused by the DRYING ELEMENT which has failed!

I forked out £165 for a 12-month service plan with Electrolux, and the engineer came with the spare drying element tucked under his arm! He said 95% of the time (with these symptoms) it’s the drying element and he always has at least 2 spares on his van at all times. He was only in my flat 10min and he’d fixed it – Electrolux must be ranking it in!

The spare part number is “1326228002” and costs around £40.

A diagram is available here (http://tinyurl.com/pjsfyy3), and the part is numbered as 10. It is located inside a long stainless steel ‘tube’ right at the top-rear of the machine. Just remove the electric connectors and remove the drying element. (Make sure you’ve switched off the mains before trying this!)

Oliver, April 2014
I've had same problem as everyone else. Hardly used dryer but wash cycle started failing after two ish years. Seems to work til last 20 mins. I now switch it off overnite then it will work the next day. Totally unreliable. Never use Electrolux again.

Ejs, February 2014
Tks Arthur... I did it... disconnected the 4 cables and... It works :D

Marcio Menezes, September 2013
THANK YOU ATHUR M.
Disconnecting the dryer/heating cables worked a treat.
Thanks for the tip.

Livz, February 2013
mine has lasted 2 yrs and 10 mths - never again.

johnny, October 2012
I forgot.... there are 4 cables. You need to disconnect all of them.

Artur M., October 2012
I had the same problem. That problem has been in the dryer/heating element, then I switched it off permanently. I never used the dryer.
My electrolux working properly.
That element is on the top, under cover,in the middle rear.

Artur M., October 2012
Only done one wash and one dry.
Tried tips on here, which solved one error, now the other is c7 - the dryer/heating element.
Reluctant to call out an engineer as its nearly £100 just for a callout.
. Anybody know what part I would need? May as well order it myself if I can.

Think I'll be going back to Indesit for my next machine. Never using Electrolux again. Waste of time and money

Morgan-Brodie, July 2012
i am trying to do first wash with no clothes in it tells you to add 2 litres of water i press start then it like it just drains and play pause button starts to flash green and dosent do anything

stuart, May 2012
Mine has just gone the same way. 2 1/2 years. Is the dryer element easy to replace? I'd rather do it myself as you can get them for £25. If works then good, if not scrap.

MA, September 2011
weve had the same problem but after reading this site we made sure the door child safety button was pussed in flush with the door...seems to be working again now...thanks..however last year we had an enginer out because of a err code, had dried element replaced and has worked fine since?!

alison, August 2011
I have had this machine for 1 yr 6months and from the start there was a problem with the pcb, which we had fixed. But now the machine won't even complete a full cycle (it omits the rinse cycle). Even when you put it on a manual rinse it looks like its going to start, sounds like its going to start and then clicks off.

Will never buy any electrolux product again!!! Waste of time and money.

MM, July 2011
Same problem here; thought that Electrolux was a serious brand but quality is obviously leaving this world! Scandalous that some of them even broke after 1 year of usage.. will never buy Electrolux again..!

Crappy Electrolux!, July 2011
It's the dryer element short circuit , confuses the PCB

Service bloke, July 2011
heres a tip hold in the door and press start button at same time and it starts.

serena, March 2011
just joined the club! local engineer replaced door interlock, good for three washes then nothing. He came out again, said part was faulty and put another one in. That good for 3 washes then nothing. Now got dented front panel where it was kicked!

Rod, February 2011
had similar problem. would switch on, door locked and after a few seconds, door would unlock and start button flashes. screwed in child lock on inside of door as suggested by lee harrison and then unscrewed it so that it freely moved in and out. seems to be working now.

terry baker, February 2011
Try screwing in the child's safety screw which is on the inside of the door. This may have come loose - saved us the cost of a new washer......

Lee Harrison, November 2010
ours is the same but it sounds like we've been a bit luckier than some of you as ours has lasted 2years. I think we should all approach Electrolux, & try to get a recall on them as it's obviously a fault with the computer on them.

Paula, August 2010
Same problem !

Is it possible to by the control board from Electrolux or any one else and DIY? Was there a free recall on this machine

This is ridculous Electrolux must know thye are putting themselves out of business.Do they care ?

RG, July 2010
My problem is exactly the same .... one year and a week old (typical) and came with a new built flat..very reluctant to call someone out probably cheaper to buy a new washer but definitely a different make

RW, July 2010
Just to say I'm there too. Exactly same situation - washing machine just under two years old, new build flat and it came with. It will run for 30 minutes if I put it on a 40degree/55 minute cycle and then stop. But only occasionally. Just had some guys come to look at it and they reckon it's a circuit board and Zanussi/Electrolux would need to fix but guessed they'd charge about £100 just to come out. I'm not impressed.

L.Turner, May 2010
do we now how to run the diagnostic on Electrolus EX14440W. Need to find out what the problem before deciding to call someone

P khan, May 2010
I have the same problem too! the machine is about 1.5 year old came with the new built flat. The lights are on and it looks OK but it just doesn't do anything when you press the start button.

Booking an engineer today.

Patrick, March 2010
Well, engineer came today, and said that it's the dryer element which is causing the fault. No idea what that means. Told him that I never use the dryer and he said that's exactly what happened to other machines he's been called to. (WTF???) Anyway, the circuit board needs changing. He'll call back with the part next week.

He never opened any panels, just press a few buttons and some code appeared. Guess he was able to diagnose the problem from those codes.

AC, December 2009
A same question was posted somewhere on this website. I've commented on that one so I might as well add my comments to this one. I have the same problem recently. Machine would wash but not rinse at the begining. Now the start/pause button keeps flashing, the machine makes a noise and then stops. It is only a year and a half old and came with the house which is a new built. Seems like the fault is happening to everyone at more or less the same time.

AC, December 2009
No lights, nothing at all. checked with volt stick internaly and power is getting to all parts.
didn't play up, just won't switch on.

Phill N, December 2009
Hi. So glad to hear I'm not on my own. Ours is only just over a year old and it kept stopping after the normal wash had been on for 10 minutes. In the end it didn't work at all and as you both say you can select all the programmes but when you press the start button nothing happens! We think it may be the management board that has broken and have been quoted £150 for a new one. As we don't see the point in paying hundreds of pounds for labour and the new part, we have bought a new Samsung and scraped the ewx14440w.

Rachel Amison, October 2009
had an engineer out who replaced the lock-not convinced thats the problem as it started working again a few days before he came, result being when he ran his diagnostics it didnt show there was anything wrong. Its done 2loads for me so far so we shall see. Watch this space!

J.Evans Aug09, August 2009
I had the same problem today. I did a load of washing last night and did some drying this morning. and when I went to do more wash the wash cycle wouldn't start and the door would lock and unlock. now its doing the same thing as yours, when you press start nothing happens. Any news on yours?
