It is most likely the gear box that needs to be replaced. If you give me the model # of the Makita 18V, I can get you a part #. This part would be covered under the 3 year warranty with a receipt....so that would be great.
Look and see if there is an authorized Makita service center in your area. This option would be the most convenient for you. If there isn't one close by, we are an authorized Makita service center and would be happy to help you.
