My Picasso is making a humming noise which seems to be coming from the gear box. I thought at first is was coming from the wheel but when you take the car out of gear the noise goes away and it only happen in 1st & 2nd gear and slightly in 3rd. Any suggestions as to what it could be and how I can resolve it. Thanks

It might be worth getting the gearbox oil level checked, but from that description I'd say it's the input shaft bearing in the gearbox.
I have the same on my Mitsubishi.
If it is the I.S. bearing the 'box will have to be removed from the car for repair.
