corsa back suspension?

under my corsa by the back wheel there a spring about 6in long hanging down.i cant see where its come from .any help thanks; deb

Hi that sounds like the spring from the rear brake load proportioning valve, its there to alter the amount of braking power at the rear wheels when the car is laden. Get it fixed, the last thing you need is too much braking force at the rear when its not required! sideways? not soo good!

Is it quite slim, about 5 mm (from memory)? If so it's probably the handbrake return spring. A new spring costs about £2 from Vauxhall parts dept. It's an easy job, any DIY mechanic can do it in a few minutes. Might need a pair of pliers to get it on, no other tools required. Dont pay Vauxhall to do it, they'll charge £50!!.

Look at the other side and you'll see the suspension spring in place - I assume the spring is quite a large diameter and about 9mm thick?
