Yamaha PY90?

Gears 1 ,2 and 4 are fine but it jumps out of 3rd gear.
Is this an expensive fix ?
Any ideas what is causing it and can a novice ( me ) do the repair myself ?
Any advice would be much appreciated !

Motorbike gears have dogs - or pegs - that allow them to engage together. The pegs on one gear engage with matching holes on the next gear as they slide along a shaft. Your pegs are worn or broken off, and it means a complete stripdown to replace them.
