Peugeot 206 2002 right indicator won't stay on?

I have a 52 plate peugeot 206. It has the auto lights and wipers. The right indicator is playing up! If I hold it up before it 'clicks' into place then the indicator works. When I click it into place when turning right it doesn't work. If I wiggle the part of the steering column bit under the indicator bit it will work but its very hit and miss!! Is this something we can fix?

the fault you describe is a common fault on your vehicle and as john said you will require a new switch which peugeot call the comms unit and is the whole switch and airbag clock spring and wiper switch pack all in one and needs the steering wheel removing to fit it ..sorry

great thank you, I'll have a go and might post again!

Basically you just check that the connector is fully plugged together, and hasn't fallen apart. I don't know how the new switch is fitted on these - some you can replace without removing the steering wheel, on others the wheel has to come off. No big deal, but of course there's the airbag which needs professional handling!

hi John thanks for that! what should I look for when I check the connector?

It needs a new column switch - rather unreliable apparently although I haven't done one. Its worth checking the electrical block connector to the switch first though - its accessible with the column shrouds unscrewed and dropped out of the way.
