Hoover HDC7FM condenser dryer buzzing noise ?

Hi,
I have a 7kg Hoover HDC7FM family mega load condenser tumble dryer. It has been working fine, but the past week I have had to hold down the start button for about 10 seconds before it will stay on. While I am holding the button down, the machine is working, but there is a loud buzzing noise and the machine won't stay on by itself (without me holding in the button. Once the noise stops (usually after about 15 seconds)I don't have to hold the button in and the machine works as normal.
This has been happening for about a week, but today the noise won't stop and the machine will not work without me holding the start button in...which I can do if I stick tape over the button, but slightly concerned about the noise that it's making...I don't want to burn the place down!

Is there anything I can do to mend it, or has it died?!?
