fuel filter problem?

changed the fuel filter on my 1.8d ford courier now it will not start please help.Also should i hear a noise when i turn the key just before starting the engine as i have been told that i should but i dont

Its the primer head, these Ford engines have a bad plunger in the primr head. As soon as you pump them, it flips the seals internally and lets air draw in. You need the filter head that sits on top of the fuel filter. They are only £20. After replacing it, you can pump the diesel up and she will go.

You need to bleed the system to ensure that there is no air in there...on the top of the filter there could be a black primer button that you press...this purges the system with fresh diesel. Look at the injector pump...if you can see an 8mm bleed nipple, undo this, press the primer button until air free diesel comes out. There shouldn't be any noise when you first turn the key - at least not so far as I'm aware.
