What grease to use for Paper Shredder Motor Gears?

I have a Fellowes paper shredder. The Motor gear (helical gear) grease seems to be gumming up. It is very sticky and feels like honey.
I want to dip the gears in a solvent to remove the old grease. Then apply new grease on the gear.
Can anyone tell me what grease to use?

Petrol dissolves this sticky grease. Metho doesn't. I plan on using
High Temperature Wheel Bearing grease to cope with the temperatures (Joke). and spray the cutters with crc or wd40

Ok Im on stay as you but in 2015, as i can see, you're right, but to specify i looked by Lithium EP2 Grease, reconogized in ambar color (as paper shredder heavy duty)

My Fellowes shredder has started running slowly and cutting out after only a few sheets. I also found the nylon gear wheels to be covered with a honey-like sticky stuff and am mystified by it. It surely cannot be a lubricant as it is thick and very sticky, unless it is a grease which has somehow changed its characteristics.

After spending sometime searching from the internet, I found that the gears need a NLGI grade No.2 grease. It is a common grease suitable for "open gear lubrication".
