Zanussi wjs1665 ticking noise?

There is a fast ticking noise when drum is rotating slowly, with or without any clothes in. Could it be the motor brushes

disconnect the drive belt and see if the noise still happens when you rotate the drum.if it does suspect something under the drum (bra wire,screw etc)if it stops when belt removed suspect motor commutator is faulty and will need replacing
