My Ford Fiesta cuts out when i turn the fan on?

My Ford Fiesta 1.25 Ghia 1999 cuts out or feels like it will cut out when i turn the fan on, whether its hot or cold or the air con. As soon as i turn the fn on its starts reveing up and down then cuts off.
