Ryobi Miter Saw. How do I put guard back on??

Removed guard to change blade. Can't figure out where the spring goes.

Like me, you probably shouldn't have taken it off. You did it!! and I did it!! It's a bummer. I can only tell you that the upper end of the black (usually) arm that attaches to the rear of the saw and is part of the metal cover plate for the spring mechanism has to be at roughly 1 o'clock. The inner spring pin fits in the indent on the plastic guard casing and the outer spring pin fits in the metal cover plate ( you have a choice of three so try them all). Of course, start with the movable guard in the lowered position. But then, what do I know. I just try and try and , like magic, it works.

I'll try anything, August 2009
