megane scenic 1.4 cutting out?

Our Megane Scenic (04 reg) 1.4 petrol keeps cutting out when revs fall to below 1000 i.e when slowing down at junctions, this is an intermittent problem and so far 2 garages have been unable to diagnose the problem- it seems to be getting worse . any ideas?
