Assuming it's not something jammed in the printer preventing the paper from feeding, the symptom you describe is probably not something you can fix. Many cash register printers have a rubber roller (called a feed roller) with a small friction clutch actuated by an electromagnet (called a trigger magnet) that drives the paper. A fairly common problem is for the clutch to wear out or the trigger magnet to fail. Your best bet is to take it to a cash register dealer in your area who can diagnose and replace the failed component.
