cooling fan for Rover 75 Connoisseur Se 2.0 CDT Auto?

When turning ignition key to 2nd position the fan comes on, and stays on when engine is running, after turning engine off - goes off after about 10 seconds. Auto electrician suggested this could be an air con problem, but not sure. Any ideas?

The fan is should work when the air con is on.
Try switching the air con off while the car is running it should go off.
