Will an engine from a different year fit?

I have a Renault Laguna 1994 2.0l RT manual 8v. Will an engine and gearbox from a 1998 RXE 2.0l 8v fit straight in easily enough for someone who is fairly competent?

if its GOT THE SAME CODE ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE THEN YES IT WILL THE TWO DIFFERENT CODES ARE F3R722 AND F3R723 YOUR CODES MUST MATCH EACH OTHER
