potterton profile 50e?

The boiler will not start, the fan runs OK but will not following the flow chart supplied by potterton comes up with the answer the pressure switch needs changing, so I changed it still no luck, have checked the enclose seal and the pipes are not kinked. If I cheat and suck on one of the pipes it will start. Any ideas?

Hi,

My old Potterton 50e has started to make a grinding noise when in hot water and ch mode. There is also a bit of kettling happening when the boiler is switched off (both modes) It does not sound healthy! Weirdly enough it started to heat only two radiators upstairs when on hot water mode (Central Heating was turned off)
This I guess is not normal - can anyone help?

Cheers,

Si

Thanks everybody for the help, John turned out correct the flue had what looked like dried nettle leaves in it, perhaps a bird trying to make a nest!
its never happened before and the boiler has been there for about 17 years.

if the switch and tubes are ok then the fan isn't producing enough draught to operate the switch, try cleaning the fan impellers.

have you checked the tubes are both clear ?

I'm only a simple OFTEC man, but if this happens to me the flue needs a clean out...its the air pressure differential that causes the air switch to shut things down.
