hello, cameras just over a year old (typical) and when the battery runs down and it goes off it just wont come back on again. its done it before and sorted itself out, but now i cant even get it to do that! the charging light comes on for 5-10 seconds when it is put on charge and then goes off again. the lens is currently stuck out as it ran out of battery. It works to transfer photos to the computer using a usb cable and the charging light flashes when I do this so the connection appears to working ok. any help would be amazing!

Take the battery out - locate the camera significant distance (another floor) from the battery for a couple days - then it should work. You'll have to reset the time date etc because this separation of battery and camera puts it back to the original factory settings. Hope this works for you.
