What's wrong with my peugeot carb?

I just changed the carb on my peugeot ludix. I used an after market part since they don't make parts for my model anymore. It is "adaptable" Anyhow, It started right up after I changed it. Tons and tons of smoke blew from the pipe and then it bogged out. And now she won't start. What could the problem be? Also there is like 5 different prongs on the carb to attach the oil, gas line, etc. Weird?

Hey BB! Thanks for your answer. Maybe you can help me figure this out. The first carb was for sure not functioning correctly. The accelerator was not working on it. I think a little plastic piece was missing near the accelerator pin. And it would not start before I put this other carb on. And Ha Ha I don't know what adaptable is either. I am in France and I don't speak very well so I think the guy might have up-sold me something. But It seems to work other than all the smoke. If the mixture was wrong , do I need to clean everything out internally??? And could it be that I don't have the oil/and,or gas line to the correct input? I don't see how it could have started if this was the case though???? Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
why did you need to change your carb? I am not sure what you mean by adaptable and I was unaware you could buy after markt carbs. Clearly if it was running ok before then the new carb has caused this problem. I cant remember if these are two stroke, I think they are.
If the mixture was wrong when you started it then it could of caused all sorts of problems internally. I would start off by locating a proper carb (ebay) and then put that back on or prehaps your old one first. Lets us know a bit more and may be able to help further. Good luck
