Thanks for the advice, my iron is the third one I have had and now this one is gone and would be just out of warranty had I bought this one, over $400 new and the steam hose seems to have popped off, the guy who was the Tefal service repaire told Tefal to stick it and now we have no agent I willr never buy Tefl again, good product when works but for over $400 I expected it to last longer I got better value from a cheap steam iron from Aldi didnt iron a well but lasted longer

Most electrical appliances these days have security screws to discourage users from messing with them. The most common type is Torx head.

You can buy small sets of security driver bits from all good DIY and hardware stores quite cheaply - and a driver handle to fit them to, however....

I wouldn't bother - years ago I used to mend broken irons and toasters etc but these days they design and make them to be virtually impossible to repair - how to dismantle? where to get parts?

You will be better off just throwing the broken one away and buying a mid range to cheap replacement iron - if it lasts longer than three years you will have done well.

Good luck...
