Exposed steam tube on Tefal pro Express steam iron?

The tube carrying the steam on our Tefal pro Express Turbo has parted company with its protective insulation sheath making it very hot if it catches your arm. This is through normal use and it is impossible to stretch it back and afix. Is this a common problem and is there a solution? Thank you in advance.

I had this problem too. I used a thick cotton seam binding and stitched it to the original cotton sheath. I then wound it along the cable and steam tube, stitching the edges and finally attached it by tucking it into the holes on the plastic and stitching it in placed. I was not difficult and has held for nearly two years.
