How can I turn off predictive text on my Sony Ericsson W705?

I've just got a new Sony Ericsson W705 and can't work out how to turn off the predictive text. It's doing my head in!

smash the phone into little tiny bits sweep it up , put it into the waste bin , and say balls to all of this , how did we manage without the frigging phones, The world will still revolve, you will still have to resolve your own problems,

For some reason the W705 calls predictive text 'T9'

Start typing in a text message - and hold down the button labelled a/A/*
and that will turn predictive text on / off.
