MY FORD FOCUS 2006 2LTR DIESEL OVERHEATED ?

MY FORD FOCUS 2006 2LTR DIESEL OVERHEATED AND THE REVS DROPPED OFF IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL IN A SHORT TIME AND RAN OK.
TOWING MY CARAVAN UP A STEEP HILL THE SAME THING HAPPENED IT AGAIN SLOWED RIGHT DOWN AND WOULD NOT REV, AGAIN AFTER A SHORT WHILE THE TEMP RETURNED TO NORMAL ANY SUGGESTIONS WHAT THIS MIGHT BE.

The cooling system has a fail safe system this comes into operation in stages. The ECU will control the engine and if the temperature rises the engine will be restricted to below 3,000 rpm. This is what has probably happened , this occurs to stop you from major engine damage.I suggest you check that your electric fan is working to do this disconnect the connection and try jumping on your battery if this works your fan is ok.
