Briggs & Stratton 35 Classic (Mountfield)?

Have removed carb.from engine (Model 9D902 Type 2022E1 Code 99120252) and am following re-assembly instructions as given for an earlier question which states "making sure that the fuel pump spring and cup are in position"

there was no cup when I dismantled it - is it possible that one is not fitted to this model?

Having dismantled it very carefully I'm sure that I have not lost it.

Any reply much appreciated

It is indeed possible - the spring bears directly on the rubber diaphragm on newer versions.

An appalling design from an engineering point of view, but it works for years at a stretch with no trouble, so it would be difficult to make the case for improving it!
