What model engine? There is NO chance whatever of fixing the damage for less money than the cost of a new engine. A broken con rod results from oil starvation and/or serious over-speeding. In addition to the rod, it will have taken out the crank, and the flailing end of the broken rod will very likely have destroyed the cam and govenor assembly.
A new engine may be cheaper than you think. Let me know the horsepower required.
