I have a vauxhall Zafira 1.8 design Petrol 04 reg and was driving along the motorway and car with spanner through it came on and went off after a couple of minutes then kept flashing every 10 miles or so and going out again. I saw no change in performance. Any one got any ideas what the problem may be and if I can still drive it?

THIS OFTEN MEANS THE CARS EGR(EXHAUST GAS RETURN) SENDER HAS SENSED SUBSTANDARD FUEL OR MAYBE WATER IN THE PETROL YOU HAVE BOUGHT,IT HAPPENED TO ME.AS A RULE OF THUMB,IF THE WARNING IS YELLOW, GENERALLY YOU MAY GET AWAY WITH DRIVING FOR A SHORT WHILE,BUT DO SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE,LIKE YOUR LOCAL CAR DEALER OR MECHANIC AS HE CAN ATTACH A READER WHICH WILL TELL HIM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.IF THE WARNING IS RED THEN STOP DRIVING IMMEDIATELY AS YOU ARE LIKELY TO BE DOING A LOT OF DAMAGE.
