A broken key fob may well cause it not to start. There is a transceiver chip in the key which switches off the immobiliser.
If the chip is missing, dislodged or broken the car wont start.
Is there a flashing light on the clocks when you turn the ignition on?
I take it you dont have a spare key.
If you post back please give more info., eg. is the engine turning over, have you checked the cam belt, is the battery good, do you have access to diagnostics and fuel pressure testing equipment.
