What is the meaning of error code A01 Indesit DE73?

Following a house move the dishwasher has now started to show a error code of A01 - this is after it is switched on and starts to run the cycle. The waste pump seems to run if that any help?

After first having tried everything else, I followed the four steps. Now the machine works perfectly. Thank you.

Followed the steps given previously on tipping out the water and resting - worked a treat.

We followed the advise of others. Tipped the dishwasher up, lots of water came out. Put it back together and Bobs your uncle. Everything working. Thank you very much. Just saved ourselves £105 call out charge/£200 new dishwasher. Now what can I do with that money!!!

I've had the same problem with my dishwasher (A01 code displayed). I released the water by tipping the machine on its back (have towels ready). The problem was the rotary spray arm inside the bottom of the dishwasher, this was loose. So I turned the plastic part under the lower spray arm clockwise to tighten it back up again. The dishwasher is now working again.

You can fix the A01 error by

1: Unplugging dishwasher
2: have some towels ready on your floor for mopping before doing step 3.
3: Now tip your dishwasher onto its back, until about a bowl full of water leaks out.
4: Stand yer dishwasher back up, turn it on. A01 code will vanish and you can run a normal cycle.
I've just done the above, and saved myself 100 quid callout fee charged by Hotpoint, the thieves!!!!

Tipping the machine seems to solve it...

Bill Gates, May 2009
This code indicates that the "float switch" has been triggered in the bottom tray of the machine. Water has somehow leaked into the bottom tray and this cut out is to prevent a greater flood. Unplug from the power. Drain the water by tipping the unit on its side. Unless you know that the water came from another source, I would suggest a thorough visual inspection opening the bottom to see if you can see any split pipes etc.

Try looking at this site: www.balesfield.co.uk/indesit-error.html where the guy lists all the error codes and their meanings!! It tells us what they mean but not how to mend them!!

Yes , The kick plate does come off, there are two screws under the base, I left these out

I have a indesit De73 kept coming up with a01 (Water in the bottom, floading ), called engineer thay replaced the pumps and water level sensor, but this did not sove the problem had engineer out about 20 times in first year.

After the warranty ran out I had a go myself, watched it fill could not see a problem.

I reduced the water presure and leveled it up and had no more problems with A01

After 7 months of running well I have another problem the top section is not cleaning, I suspect that the plastic rotor is worn ?

Have spoken to Indesit and they tell me that the kick plate on the DE73 can not be removed and that the over flow tray can only be removed if you are willing to soak electrics as you lift it out (water and electric bits no way) so my advice get your service sent to send out someone that know's what they are doing.

They also highlighted another possible cause been that one of the inlet/outlet may be damaged. Could this be another fault with the DE73 that is just coming to light !!!

If they make the mistake or damage it, looks like they will be paying for your new machine.

But then again look at it this way I think it pays to be safe.

Two things the pump filter is block or the drop tray under the kick flap is full (possible cause block pump filter) however if you have a machine post 2001 to I think 2003 how the hell you get the kick flap off is another question !
