Ariston washing machine not emptying when spinning, leaks?

My Ariston A1636 washing machine leaks through the fill drawer when spinning. This appears to happen on the final rinse. The machine does empty normally during the cycle and this only happens at the end. There is no filter and the machine is just over a year old. Could it be the programmer net telling the machime to empty. I dont think it is a blockage. any ideas? Richard

Have had a water leak problem on our ariston a1636 for some time, the water was leaking from the detergent dispenser at the spin cycle ,but not on every occasion. Would like to add a bit more information to what I picked up here. Tried the following this afternoon. 1.Lay on its right side. 2. Place 2 or 3 tea towels over the electric motor . 3. Remove the back plate from the rear of the machine . 4. Locate the large black hose , it will have 2 jubilee clips. 5.Slacken off the larger of these , a small amount of water will then drip on to the tea towels and not damage the motor. 6.Remove the ping-pong ball and its plastic holder to gain access to any blockages , be aware of foul smell. 7. Clean out all items. 8.When replacing the plastic holder and ball remember there are 2 key-ways to align it properly under the main drum , put this in place first and then the end of the hose over it . 9. When replacing the hose , this also has a key-way so as not to be twisted or kinked . 10. Resecure the jubilee clip. Hope this helps, taking your time on this job should be about an hour . Good luck.

This has proved to be spectacularly successfull, as I have had exactly the same problem. Thanks very much for your help.

I had the same problem. This is due to the suction side of the pump be blocked. It comes back up into the d soap draw because it is connected by a tube on the suction side of the pump, so as the drum turns when full it creates a pressure and fills the soap drawer with water and goes on the floor. Tip machine on its front after isolating water and power, remove plastic cover by drain tube, undo both jubilee clips on pump suction side, disconnet electrical connection, lift pump at front and slide forward - hey presto pump is free. remove plastic strainer and don't forget to put the plastic ball back in, this is not rubbish. Happy washing. Pete M.

I have exactly the same problem on the same model (Ariston A1636). It happens at the end of the rinse cycle. The machine starts spinning (clockwise) at the end of the rinse, and the drawer being at the top left, the water goes straight back up and out the front. When draining, I can hear water flowing out in the drain, but obviously not enough, as it shouldn't spin with lots of water still in the drum. I'll check the pump and hoses.

(Called the customer line, which in fact is a sales desk offering 1 off visits for about £90 or about £140 for 1 year maintenance. No advice whatsoever on fixing it yourself. Disappointing, but then again, I don't know if other manufacturers are any better.)
