husqvarna 388xp it sounds like its loading up when i run it wide open. then it made aloud pop like it back fired. then it acted like it didn't want to run after that.

Did you mean 338XPT, not sure there is a 388xp, on the 338xpt there is a steel weight in the back of the flywheel, it was there to improve the idle, it can upset the ignition and stop the saw from revving, remove the weight, you will need to put nuts on the back to secure the starter pawls.
