Sorry -- did a silly misprint in my submission of this question a moment ago:
My Canon FC 220 gives a good image after many years, but imposes a small black blob vertically down the copy at a regular interval of 77mm, ie almost exactly 3in. These blobs are placed at 62mm from the left trim.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
