Can I mend a cut Lawnmower wire?

I have cut my lawnmower wire. It's too short for a plug! Can I join the two cables up separatley using electric tape and then tape round the whole thing?

a easy way out of this situation, Is this.... buy a male to female connection, and wire you mower into these blocks, No need to un wire the flymo motor, thus leaving the original motor wiring in tact. think about a breaker that fits straight into the three pin socket, in the house,

Rubbish. Get a waterproof connector (ebay if nowhere else) and re-wire it. Flymo used water RESISTANT connectors in their electric mower leads for years.

No!No!No!
The only safe solution is to replace the whole lead.
